SPACE IBIZA PRESENTS KEHAKUMA

MORE SPACE FOR UNDERGROUND HOUSE MUSIC

Sydney’s house scene heats up for summer with the return of Space Ibiza to Australia in 2012.

Organisers have announced a showcase of the world famous brand over three special Space Ibiza parties across Sydney’s most exciting months. Quality underground music, artists and an intimate party atmosphere of like-minded people are what party goers can count on, they say.

The Space team are opening the series with “Space Pres Kehakuma” on New Years Day 2012. Headlined by one of the world’s most highly regarded house and techno stars SETH TROXLER, and one of the best remixers and producers around - Rekids label head honcho RADIOSLAVE.

The line-up also includes EDDIE RICHARDS - Britain’s original godfather of house and techno and long standing Fabric resident with over 25 years behind the decks, and Parisian JEF K - one of Paris’s longest serving house deejays famous for club classic “In My System”.

Alongside Italian maestro and Space resident REMO - on the terrace since 2005, and UK underground house and badboy party monster GARRY TODD – whose credits include a six year residency at Spice After Hours and residency at Carl Cox’s revolution party.

Last year’s Festival favourite BASS DROP returns to host a room, with Hospitality Record’s hero B-COMPLEX and Dubstep Dynamos, CHASING SHADOWS. Space organizers say some of Sydney's finest local talent are being added to the lineup, making Space’s opening party down under the hottest New Years Day ticket for house music fans.

Space Ibiza promoter Paul Strange says, “For the past few years we have put on the New Years Day Space Ibiza Festival. It’s been hugely successful, with amazing music and an awesome vibe. We have built a really authentic following.”

“This year we’re shaking things up with a new format here in Sydney. Space will now stretch out over summer with three unique parties. We’ve gone for a more literal interpretation of Space, more in keeping with the essence of the brand by booking more underground artists, over the big commercial headliners needed to attract a Festival audience of 10,000 plus.”

“We think this will be great for the development of the Space brand in Australia, and it certainly doesn’t rule out a return of the Festival next year. Our long term goal is to bring the Festival back to join the strong series of summer season shows we’re building this year,” he says.

“Our line-up of respected acts, awesome music and like-minded people coupled with an outdoor setting and Sydney’s beautiful summer weather is a winning combination, totally in tune with the Ibiza vibe. We’re also making a major investment in production for this event, taking it to a Festival style level – but in a more intimate setting,” says Strange.

As in previous years the Space Ibiza team is promising a party worthy of Space Ibiza’s reputation, this year voted “best club in the world” (DJ Mag UK, 2011).

Space Ibiza Presents - Kehakuma takes place at The Greenwood in North Sydney on New Years Day 2012, previously home to one of the longest running day parties, Sounds on Sunday, where music fans have seen some of the world’s biggest acts – Jamie Jones, Paul Oakenfold, Calvin Harris & Kaskade.

Tickets for the Space Ibiza New Years Day go on sale on 11/11/11. First release tickets are only $69 and are extremely limited. Book early so you don’t miss out. Jump on http://spaceibizafestival.com.au for details, tickets and regular updates on all things Space!

SETH TROXLER

SETH TROXLER In accordance with Mayan prophecy, Seth Troxler was, in fact, a gift to Detroit techno from intergalactic house demigods from the future. Rumours that Seth Troxler is actually an alien are untrue; in the early first century these demigods kidnapped the virile first-born child of a Roman centurion and his Egyptian trophy wife. After years of travelling around the western end of the Milky Way studying linear algebra, Byronic verse, city planning, and the essentials of electronic music composition, these demigods lost young Seth to the Old God Horus in a game of trans-dimensional poker. Before Horus could consume his soul, disguised as Freemasons, they managed steal the young Seth back, and fearing the wrath of Horus, hid him in the Mid-Western town of Kalamazoo where he was raised by a kindly family of Amish.
Since then Seth has gone on to ignite the world of house and techno with a constant barrage of vocal jams, been voted Number Three best DJ in the world in the Resident Advisor Top 100 DJ Poll (beaten only by Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin) and landed a much vaunted residency at DC10 in Ibiza. He has played many outstanding international gigs, notably fabric (London), Panorama Bar and Watergate (Berlin), Womb (Tokyo), Tenax (Florence), Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), The Rex (Paris), Fuse (Brussels), Avalon (LA), The End Up (San Fransisco) plus The Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Mutek. In the studio he has collaborated with such dance luminaries as Matthew Dear, Art Department, Tiefschwarz, Deetron, Masemenos and dOP, in addition to groundbreaking remix work done as Visionquest alongside fellow astral refugees Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss. Together their Visionquest project has spawned the most exciting new record label in dance music today, plus a four deck DJ spectacular that will see the four of them tour the world reminding people how lucky they are to be human.
